  3. Hi Tom,
I just happened to be walking past the computer.....Thank you for what you wrote. I confess, it broke my heart the way I was treated - or rather ignored, in that programme.
I'm so sick of the way they are treating me that I finally spoke up, just a few days ago and
wrote some 'HOME TRUTHS' on my web site about 'the real' Tony Hatch. I know that Col intended sending you a copy of what I wrote - which you can read on www.jackietrent.com.
Incidentally, we wrote to the Belfast Telegraph and the Irish Times, asking them to consider
reporting on what I wrote. I hope they do............ A DJ friend in Australia wrote in to the BBC complaining, as we did 2 years ago when the programme was first aired: to no avail. We'll win justice yet!
    All my Luv,
    Jackie

  4. Hello Jackie.
I hope all is well with you.I've just listened to "Colour My World" on line.I thought I'd never hear any mention of you!At least I got to hear "Where Are You Now, My Love", which I haven/t heard on Radio for some time.Tony Hatch should at least have had the decency to acknowledge the major part you played as Lyricist.Poor marks for Petula Clark also. You were also responsible for her renewed success, and she knows it.Bill Kenwright should have ensured you got your full recognition. He knows better. The BBC, with their vast knowledge, and library of music, should have known better.Perhaps if Brian Matthew was involved, things would have been better. That's it, whinging over!Love and best wishes to you, as always.Be well, be happy.

  5. Hi Jackie,
I own one of the largest distributed A4 full colour glossy magazines in Staffordshire, distributed to a massive 13,000 homes from my Stoke-on-Trent location in Cheadle. The Uttoxeter & Cheadle Voice magazine is a community magazine written by local people with my columnists local characters and former England footballers such as Stoke City's Alan Hudson and UK Masterchef finalist Sara Danesin Medio. All the columnists submit articles and photos free of charge because this is a free magazine which is enjoyed by over 30,000 readers. As you are a former Stokie from Chesterton, I wondered if you would email 7 articles/photos for 2012? You are such a Stoke-on-Trent favourite and I am sure you know how much respect you are held here. Perhaps you could reminisce of other famous stars you have met and worked with in your wonderful career and all the fabulous places you have been to? You are known as the 'Potteries Vera Lynn' and it would be so fantastic if your articles c!
ould be enjoyed by our huge readership. Kind regards, Nigel Titterton

  6. So sorry to hear about your trials and tribulations with Tony. I met you must have been around 1967 when you presented a Miss DJ award to me at the Odeon, Streatham organised by Mecca or Top Rank - too long ago. I was 17. Still have the press photo... I am a psychotherapist now living in Cyprus.Anyway, through it all I have always got the impression you have kept a sense of dignity. I occasionally have seen the odd press release but it is always how you respond to these things in a public arena that underpins one's integrity. Whatever two people can throw at each other - it's the one you can duck best and throw least that comes out of that playground standing. Peter Andre springs to mind, if you followed their acrimonious relationship, as an example. You have toughed it out - got through the worst - kept your self-respect. Good to see you are still standing. Regards .. Teresa O

  7. Hello Jackie:
This website is awesome.. Love that you took the time to put it up for your Friends and Fans like me to partake of. Would like to hear samples of your latest stuf...and... are you still doing lyrics?
The stuff you wrote during the "Hatch " years was awesome. With the fulllife and experience you have had since..I think you would be even better. So, a personal slice of " The Trent " is a wee bit overdue, Isay, and cannot wait to hear, read, and see it.. You are a focal point for women all over who have had it rough, Jackie... Stay the strong woman and stellar artist you are, and always have been..

In Flanders' fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow.
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

    Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold on high,

  15. Dear Ms Trent,

What a tremendous joy it was for me to discover you recently on youtube. Of course I've heard of you as a song writer and knew that you were responsible for writing many incredible songs with Tony Hatch, but I had no idea what an incredible vocalist you are!I was looking up a song of yours called Your Love is Everywhere covered in Swedish by Agnetha Faltskog on her debut album from 1968. I recognized the song writing credits and looked it up on youtube. What I heard blew me away! I just had to listen to more of your renditions and was particularly amazed by Everything Swings!....all I can say is...OH MY GAWD!...Well now I just have to get everything you've ever recorded.Having been born the same year that your first album came out means I have some catching up to do. What a glorous time for music. I can't think of anyone whos songs conveyed such pure joy and elation as well as yours do.Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talents with us. You have a new and appreciative fan here. I hope happiness and joy are always yours!

  16. Dear Jackie
First of all, what a great website! Secondly, I was wondering whether you might be interested in taking part in my project. I am a PhD student in Music at City University London, currently working on a thesis on women musicians' participation in and contribution to popular music in England between the years of 1962 and 1971. My research stems from original interviews with singers and instrumentalists active within the above timeframe. I am therefore writing to ask whether it would perhaps be possible to organise an interview with you some time in Autumn or Winter 2011

  27. Hi Jackie,

I have just found "Where are you now my love" on U-tube played along with the boat ride clip from "Four in the Morning". What made me look for it was hearing the song played in Asda a few weeks ago. I was doing my shopping, and although I had never heard the song before I was almost in tears going along the aisles. This has to be one of the best songs ever. Its superb.
    Keep up the good work

  31. Dear Jackie

I wonder if I might ask a huge favour. Years ago, my mother and I came several times to see that wonderful show Nell. We have remained so sad over the years that there was no cast recording made, but I wonder -if you are like me, do you keep mementoes of all your work? My mother is now 83 and would be absolutely over the moon to be able to hear any of this again and/or see any pictures. Do you have a personal recording that you might be willing to share, so that i can make her birthday (24 June) wonderful and give her one of her greatest wishes. I look forward so much to hearing from you

  38. Hi Jackie

Something which ties in with your news item regarding the re-launch of your
Stoke City supporters' song, I wonder if you can help me?

Being the "sleuth" that I am, I've been asked by a friend of mine Alan, who runs
the karaoke at the Queens pub in Kidsgrove, to try and find some film footage of
"We'll be with you" being performed/sung at the Stoke City Supporters Club in
March 1972. I believe it was televised on ATV Midlands at the time and that Alan
was amongst those celebrating (I think he's a pro singer - or, at the very
least, semi-pro). In the event that we win the FA Cup on 14th May, it would be
good if we could show the footage in the pub as part of the celebrations.

The atmosphere in our local (the Queens) is always fantastic but even more so
when Stoke pull off something worth celebrating! Alan is always on the karaoke
on a Saturday night and the landlord and landlady Andy and Alex arrange coaches
to matches and provided free bacon butties for those t!
ravelling to the recent Wembley semi-final. Despite the odd scattering of
"other" football fans, it's a Stoke City pub - through and through.

I will also contact ITV Central to see if they can help but there is doubt that
their archives go back that far!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Kind regards

    Fiona

  40. Ron to reply to your email about Such A Small Love - Jackie's version was the cover as it was originally recorded by Scott Walker - however I much prefer Jackie' s version and indeed it was a favourite of her fathers.

I find it an absolutely stunnning track, beautifully arranged and produced.

  41. Jackie,

Just finished listening to "Such a Small Love" again, and again, and again....
I really love this song and never get tired of it. I especially love it with a
glass of strong spirits and a good cigar.

"Small Love" is so unlike many of your other works. Your voice is almost
haunting and the orchestra is astounding. Where was it recorded? Has any other
artist performed a cover of it?

    Cheers!

  43. Hi Jackie
I came across your appeal for service memories on another website and this
contact could be of mutual benefit. I'm writing a biography for a friend called
Hamish Dick - yes, he's a Scot! He was with you at the Acropol Hotel in 1958/59
when he used to sing and dance there as a way of helping him enjoy his National
Service days in Nocosia with the RAF. He met a girl called Barbara King and they
teamed up as 'Dick and Barbara Powell', a singing/dancing act. I first saw them
at the Cosy Nook, Newquay in 1961/62 (I think it was) when they worked for Issy
Bonn and Ray Alan was top of the bill.
Hamish ended up with Miss Bluebell and spent 20 years with her at the Paris
Lido. Anyway, if you have any memories of Hamish and your time in Cyprus that might
'colour' this book, I'd be very grateful for any input. He might add to your
collection too, if you still need any more.
Thanks and best wishes (I've been singing "Where are you now?" whilst typing
    this!!)
    Chris.

  44. JT fans may be interested to know of the recent release on DVD of “The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club - The Complete Third Series”. Episode 3 features truly excellent performances from Jackie and Tony. They sing, Two Can Make It Together, Everlasting Love, United We Stand, and Together. The DVD is released on the Network DVD label and the catalogue number is 7953433.

Also of interest is a DVD that’s been out for a couple of years from the late great Matt Monro entitled “Matt Monro – The Ultimate Selection”. This features excerpts from Mr and Mrs Music, Yorkshire Television’s first colour musical spectacular from 1968. Matt sings three songs from the Trent and Hatch songbooks; I Love the Little Things, Don’t Sleep in the Subway, and I Couldn’t Live Without Your Love. The latter also features Jackie and Scott Walker although sadly neither sings in the excerpt. The DVD is released on the Odeon Entertainment label and the catalogue number is ODNM019.

I am still playing the old JT/TH gear as well as the latest JT gear and its amazing how many requests thru the email that I get wanting the old JT music.
Gee you are very popular especially in Japan,USA,Canada,UK,Australia and even in Phillipines.
Great to know that you are celebrating your aniversary in June, and het dont forget a CD to commenorate it so that people like me can play it on the radio.....
Your like me just getting older BUT mauch more wiser...
Keep up the fantastic work and keep that voice box well libricated,as we cant have any more voices cracking.
We are in the throws of having a concert here for the Queencland floods,BUT I dont think that it will be as good as the 'bushfire' one as most of the artists are unknown.

Kep up the great stuff an dont gfor get thet PeakHillFM is still supporting the great one and only Jackie Trent.

  46. In reply to Brian's message.

You say you're an old man of 66, that's not old and indeed JT hersell is older than that and she's not old - age is merely a state of mind - we may be a certain age but it doesn't mean we have to act it!!!!!!!

  47. It's great to see such a batch of new messages and to know others are already booked for the concert at the new Vic as I am too.

This news is creating a real buzz and that's a good thing!

  49. Hi Jackie,
    Love your new website.
I ran The Breakaways Fan Club from 1963 to 1974 - "Where Are You Now" is one of
their best sessions - tho I have a soft spot for "Humming Bird"!
I'm in regular contact with Margo and Jean.
    Love & best wishes,
    Vic.

  50. Hi jackie

hope you dont mind me contacting you...have never done this before.

I have known your sister Barbara and Bob for over 30 years and they were very
good friends of mine in the 70's and 80's. Still keep in touch with them now.
We used to spend many an evening watching the lastest videos that you would send
over. And on a number of occasions meeting your Mother. I know how very proud
they were of your success and achievements.

    With kind regards

  51. Hi! I was born in Chesterton, victoria street, and I always remember when I
was little, people telling, me about a singer that lived in Chesterton, I knew
your name and heard your song, and then one day, one of my friends I was with
saw you go into Tesco, in ches, my friends went running home to find paper and
pen, and waited until you came out, to ask for your autograph, alas I was too
young to realise what was happening, so I did,nt get your autograph. All the
    best to you Jackie.

  52. Hi Jackie,
Just a quick question. One of the earliest memories is of hearing Where are you
now constantly when it came out. It was and is a great song and was always on
the radio. My questions [ 2 ] what was the T.V series it was from and what was
it about ? I remember the song on the credits and think it was on Itv. I
remember my parents watching it but was too young at the time to remember
anything about it. Second question just watched a black and white video of the
record on YouTube, is it you in the video ? The video is of couple saying a
    passionate goodbye to each other.
    Thanks Jackie,
    Kind Regards David Hill

  54. Hi Jackie,
Who in their right mind would send you an email that wasn't nice???!!!
Love the website...really detailed and informative & I'm delighted to say that I
have secured two tickets for your concert at the New Vic on 22 June.Having been
a long-time fan & always believing you to be massively under-rated,it will be a
pleasure to see you doing a rare appearnce & well worth the trip up from
London.Would there,I wonder,be any chance of having you sign an autograph &
posing for a pic with me after the show...& if so,what is the best way of
    getting to see you?
One more thing...a few years ago, with you in mind,I wrote a ballad that I have
recorded on cd.It is,I believe, something that I believe would be really suited
to your voice & is a dramatic love song that I always have felt would belong in
a musical but also works as a stand alone piece.Would love you to hear it &
maybe you would agree with my thoughts, maybe even want to record it at some
future stage or use it in you a!
ct.I live in hope! Even if you weren't interested & are not seeking new
material,I would be keen to hear your thoughts.I'm a big boy now & can accept
any criticism so don't worry if it's not your cup of tea! If interested what
would be the best way to get this cd to you?
All for now...& thanks for your time.
    Fondest regards,
    John.

  57. As you may recall, I'm senior editor of Daeida Magazine, a full-color glossy print publication (also viewable online) based in L.A. Every month, we feature in-depth interviews and full page images with veteran entertainers and contemporary stars in Music, Film, Theatre: The Arts. Since 2007, we've reached readers and subscribers around the world who count on the content-heavy literary and visual aspects of what Daeida has successfully maintained to fans/followers of quality entertainment journalism. Daeida Magazine is available on news stands. We featured Miss Trent's words about Petula Clark in our former April 2010 edition and it caused quite a frenzy of excitement that's carried through the year. Indeed, ever since, my number one most-requested cover girl is Jackie Trent!

Angela Bofill is our latest cover woman/cove! our story in January. In the past, we've exclusively interviewed and photographed Dionne Warwick, Crystal Gayle, Miki Howard, Connie Francis, Petula Clark, Dame
Cleo Laine, Cloris Leachman, Helen Reddy and others, for our covers,
    respectively.

I've received a great number of emails and letters from readers around the world who have requested we interview and photograph Miss Jackie Trent in 2011 for an in-depth feature. Fans and readers have sent in questions (and I've developed my own, as well) about her career and present endeavors. Of course, this is something I would be honored to accommodate. That said, we're lining up our features and cover stories for 2011 presently and we would love to include Miss Trent in the 2011 lineup. She would be in the company of other 2011 feature artists which include Grammy-winner and 2011 Grammy nominee Dee Dee Bridgewater,
the legendary Vikki Carr, Kristine W., Peggy March and Shirley Jones.

Please let me know what I may do next to set this goal in motion even for an interior feature interview for Daeida Magazine.

  58. It's good having another Jackie Trent record to add to our collections - I mean of course the latest song called Heroes which was written and recorded by Jackie to raise fund for the Mercian regiment. It really is a heartfelt song and I hope it does well for such a worthy cause.

I was again fortunate enough to be in the studio with Jackie when this song was recorded, it really is quite fascinating watching the process and it was also very interesting meeting and chatting to her "backing singers" and also the very nice couple who own the studio (Alma & John) .
The chorus of the song is so catchy it played in my mind on the train journey home!

(Posted on 2011-01-19 15:43:00 by Karl)
  59. Had to write about Jackie's new single Heroes which was recordedd to raise funds for the Mercian regiment.

I was fortunate enough to be in the studio when Jackie was recording this track but until the song was released I had only heard bits & pieces of it, however on the train home the song played in my head for the entire journey.

Now that the cd is on release I have sent copies to several friends who all agree Jackie is in fine voice.

I hope the cd raises a healthy sum for a very worthy cause.

  60. Hello Jackie came accross your site whilst writing a book about my singing
career, I did a radio show with you in 1968 I had a hit record under the name of
Dorian Gray, it was called ive got you on my mind written by David and Jonathan.
I thought you were a very underated singer, nice to see you are still belting
out, I am still singing at 68 with a function band in Kent Unit Five.
I seem to remember playing in my younger days at a venue on the Isle of Sheppey
in Sheerness, was you the co owner, seemed to remember you were.
Hope to hear from you soon.

  63. Hi Jackie,

I was wondering if you still frequent Australia especially Perth? I have fond
memories of seeing you on Telethon and how you use to bring a tear to my eyes
everytime you sang Reach Out and Touch.

I to now live in the UK, not far from your hometown of Newcastle-under-Lyme,
Derby but my partner comes from a little closer Leek.

Hope all is well and are you still performing?

  64. Sweetheart,

This is Jackie and thank you so much for your thoughts and for writing in.
But, do you know, I am just a small cog in the wheel? YES, my name carries a bit of clout, but the people that matter out there are those that work, every day, for our troops, our people and our National pride?

On their behalf I say again: 'Thank You'..........

I was at school with ANN and I'm looking forward to giving you a ring when we are back home. Right now we are on the big old Atlantic ocean - right in the middle!
We plan on being back home around 1 December for me to meet our injured troops. Col, my husband, has diaried your 'phone number for me to call you and maybe meet up.........?

Stay in touch? And I would like to meet Corporal JACKSON; it would be MY honour...

    Luv,

    Jackie

  65. Jackie,
thanks for putting together the music for our troops. I am a Chesterton
girl grandaughter of Tom Hinks (Newsagent) my auntie Ann Hinks (now Hales) and
mother Doreen went to the same school as yourself. My son Corporal Paul Jackson
is currently serving with the RAF Regiment, his military career so far over the
last 8 years has seen him complete many tours of duty and after breaking his
back in two places and his pelvis in half, had to learn to walk again. Even
though he is local lad he is one of many that do not serve with a local
Regiment, but he is so proud of Stoke on Trent and flies the flag of Stoke City
wherever he is in the world today. Unfortunately he has lost too many dear and
close friends over the past few years and seen many loose limbs. Any person who
supports our troops in whatever way they can has my full support, at 51 yrs I
hope next year to do a parachute jump to help to raise funds for our Heros past
present and future. Many thanks Jackie for!
all you have done for our troops.

It was lovely to meet you last night. My clients are currently still stuck on the M6 heading North (hope your journey South isn’t too bad) so I had some time to Wikipedia you! WOW! What a fantastic life of achievement!

Our paths are unlikely to cross again (who knows - the Santander ferry still appeals!!), but 2 hours over dinner with you both was a lovely way to spend an evening. Thank you.

I was one of the rough Massey boys from the farm over your back fence when your
parents lived on the Hollows Farm Estate in Chesterton. I even woke you up with
a cup of tea one morning when your Mom allowed me to do so when I was working as
    a temporary Postman over Christmas.

I have followed your career when I could but not met you since the early 60s. I
too have travelled, 30 years in Africa and about 10 in Afghanistan/Pakistan
working on aid programmes. Same ager as you, born Oct. 2nd, 1940. I am glad to
hear that you are still doing OK.

  89. Jackie
You won't remember me, but you may remember my Dad.
Few clues:959-60ey Club, Ledra Palace, Nicosia, Cyprus.
Accordian player in RAF regiment name of Peter Howell (Taff), who also recalls
the pianist name of John Milton.
Just wondered if you have any recollection of this era. Unfortunately, we have
photographs ourselves and would love to obtain copies of any that you may
have. My Dad, who is now 88 years old, still reminisces about his days in Cyprus and
how he backed you. It would be a wonderful surprise for him if we could get some
photos. He still plays a bit and loves to talk about his musical days.
He says that, at 88, he's ok as long as he keeps shaking his left leg, that
    keeps his heart going!
I, myself, still think that your recording of "Where are you now" to be one of
he best ever! Looking forward to your reply.

Keren Scott of Derbyshire -glad that we met up - you three sisters were good company at The American Bar in Mahon. But not good motor cycling weather for your ‘bike-riding sister in UK, this year……?

    Dear Jackie,
If I'm to be honest I've only recently taken notice of your work because of the love I have for your track "You Baby" which, as I'm sure you already know, is a firm favourite tune on the Northern Soul scene in the UK.
From listening to that track, I grew curious about your other work and so have been wowing at your other recordings.
My connections are also that I'm a Potteries man; I orginate from Tunstall and now own the business that your sister had many years ago (or so the locals assure me ) Also, my aunt(she went under the name of Barbara Jones) was a singer around the club circuits around the same time as you and always spoke of your talent....and now I'm seeing (hearing?) why!!
Kindest regards from The Potteries, UK!!

    Dear Jackie,
(If I may be so bold, rather than Ms. Trent)
When serving in the US Army stationed in Massachusetts oh so many years ago(1966), I heard your rendition of "If You Love Me" but once. Time has flown by, and here I am with more time to reflect, I have tried to find it, and listened to different versions, to no avail. I even wondered if I had imagined the simple 'nuances' of your arrangement and it was another artist after all. Today, I found reference to a 'Margo & the Marvettes' a British group? So I went further, to find if I could find an album. Then I saw there was some collaboration with that group and Tony Hatch. Then I saw you and he had worked together and there was reference to THAT song! Thank GOD for UTube, as, Voila there was the best version of the song to me!
I do hope such entries as this are not too tedious, so forgive for that.
Thank you for recording that song some 40+ years ago
in such a wonderful way, it held my musical memory captive!
    All the BEST!

    Hi Everyone, this is Jackie.
I'm so embarrassed at this final delay in having 'Trentquility' on the website for sale. Its entirely our fault and being sorted. I should explain: the CD's are ready, just waiting for Paypal arrangements. Local Radio stations in Malta, Oz,and the Costa Blanca, Spain already have promo
copies for the air. Meanwhile, for immediate supply we could take direct orders via the website?
My friend Geoffrey in the Colonies - thanks for always being there for me. I see that Peter put out a little Aussie bluntness and Karl, my website manager for so many years, stepped into the breach for me to help explain the hiccup.
'Trentquility will be up there ASAP.
Re the Bio, I am writing the book myself to 'tell the tale' as it really was: personal and in detail. Walking this road again is surprising even me at the events in my life. Promise you will enjoy.
    Luv Always,

Jackie, this is your biggest fan on this earth - Harry Goodwin of Manchester and I want to tell your many fans about the real JACKIE TRENT......
I worked with them all, from THE BEATLES & THE STONES to MUHAMMED ALI in the boxing world. I was the official photographer for TOP OF THE POPS, the BBC's smash hit pop music TV programme of the 60's and 70's that lives on today with BRIAN MATTHEW in 'SOUNDS OF THE SIXTIES' on Radio 2.
They say the camera sees all, and I saw the real characters at work, very clearly, through my camera lens. KEN DODD is my best Mate and JACKIE TRENT is my best Girl.
    It all happened like this........
KENNETH LAWSON, the BBC's set designer, gave me the chance to work with the Stars. Well I walked into the old Dickenson Road T.V studios in Didsbury - a disused Wesleyan church, in the ear
