Stoke City ‘We’ll Be With You’ 2011 - CUP FEVER
Hi Everyone, this is Jackie.
I hear that Cup Fever is hitting the Potteries again!
It only seems like yesterday that Tony Waddington rang me to say: ‘Jackie, you have to come to Old Trafford to support the team. You’re our lucky Talisman.’ That was in 1972 – 39 years ago, when Tony Hatch and I wrote ‘We’ll Be With You’ to celebrate the Potters’ journey to Wembley, finally carrying off the League Cup.
The song was recorded at City’s Supporter Club, and what a party that was, with players, ground staff, supporters and family all joining in; because it was, and is, a family affair. Just for example the Whittaker family: in 1972 Ruth Whittaker was at the original recording; Mike, her son & his wife, never miss a Potters’ match; Josh, their son, is City’s ticket office manager and Zillah, their daughter, is flying in from New York, to be at Wembley on 17 April. That’s Stokies for you.........
But listen up: ‘We’ll Be With You’ has been ‘Stoked’ right up to date by Paul Fairclough at Radio Station Signal 2 and released via Amazon and iTunes in aid of the children of Stoke through their Help a Signal Child fund.

A couple have been presented with the sheet music for their chosen wedding day tune – by Jackie herself.
Stoke City fans Richard Walton, aged 28, and his partner Emma Ellis, aged 27, wanted club anthem We'll Be With You to be played on their special day.
But they struggled to track down a copy of the sheet music. In a last ditch attempt they contacted Jackie, who came up trumps.
Miss Ellis, of Leek, said she was delighted that their dream will come true on their wedding day on May 15.
She added: "It was a last attempt asking Jackie herself, but she came through."
A framed copy of the music was given to them at a presentation attended by former Stoke City stars at Signal Radio
Jackie wrote the song that spurred Stoke City on during the 1972 League Cup with Tony Hatch. Jackie said: "They told me that this is going to make their wedding day – it's an absolute honour."
