WORDS AND MUSIC

Everybody Gets To Go To The Moon

A fanfare of trumpets opens this Jim Webb song and Jackie responds with a rousing version of this very lively song. I wonder if Jackie was inspired by the Thelma Houston version as I know she is a fan.
A very demanding song vocally and Jackie carries it off effortlessly!

Come Home Love

Wonderful intro with flutes and violins leading into Jackie's gentle vocals.
This is a ballad beautifully written by Jackie & Tony, some great lines "Ill Be Waiting
At The Door To Greet You There".
I have to mention the brilliant drummer on this track, take a bow that man!

Believe In Me
Another self penned composition infact all but two of the songs are self penned. This song is taken at a faster pace with some wonderful vocals and orchestrations.

Don't Let It Get Away
Jackie in a swinging mood, some great brass, keyboards and funky guitars answering her vocals, note the brief nod to The Beatles "Let It Be" on a few notes!

After The Hill
An absolutely stunning ballad from Jackie, with vocal backing on the chorus.
This buillds beautifully with Jackie switching into soulful mood towards the fade, I love this side of JT.

Gotta Good Thing Going For Us
Nice duet with Tony however the lyrics are rather out of place now, anyway this song trots along at a steady pace with some great piano work in the background.

Ready To Love You
There's some brilliant brass going on here behind Jackie and again we have the girly chorus with their "Ooh O-oh's & La La's - a pleasant song.

Been So Long
Brilliant guitar intro leads into some great vocals here from Mr. & Mrs. Music, this song swings along at a steady pace in a sort of Carpenters style.

Yesterday I Heard The Rain
Jackie at her most dramatic with this well known ballad, you can almost imagine her onstage in a solo spotlight with a hushed audience hanging on to her every word as she brings this song to a dramatic end.

Try To See It My Way
Some nice horns open this almost Bacharach sounding song with Jackie hitting some high notes in a Look Of Love style - another fantastic performance.

The Small Exception Of Me
Nashville style guitars open this country flavoured song which was also recorded by Dean Martin, Tony joins Jackie at the mike again on this very catchy number.

The Only One To Love Me
Gentle organ riff opens this outstanding ballad, You Were The Only One To Love Me, The Only One To Care sings Jackie in this heartfelt ballad beautifully written and performed with a dramatic finale. Classy stuff!

Gotta Get Through To You
Another great ballad although rather short, some nice changes in tempo here.

We're Gonna Make It Together
The only track released as a single from the album but instead of being credited as Jackie Trent & Tony Hatch it was Happy Medium!!!
Anyway Tony opens the final song with Jackie coming in later this has always been a favourite of mine and it builds beautifully with a very catchy chorus.

I really have to give special praise to the musicians on this album, there is some great work going on behind the singers. The brass section, the strings, rhythm etc and not forgetting the outstanding drummer. The Emi Columbia sessions produced some of the finest work from Jackie & Tony which is not a slur on the Pye recordings which were also brilliant.

I would be absolutely delighted if someone released the Emi tracks on cd and let the world hear some rare gems.
