TWO FOR THE SHOW
How Do You Do (Jackie & Tony)
The album gets off to a breezy start but has some nice slower passages with Jackie singing over a baroque orchestral piece. The chorus is incredibly catchy with the " Na Na Na Na's
Jerusalem (Jackie)
I first heard this as an instumental by Herb Alpert. Jackie's vocal is incredibly dramatic and the song builds to a great climax, there's some wonderful stuff going on behind her with guitars, horns etc. A very moving performance!
Reason To Believe (Jackie & Tony)
A well known song usually sung by Rod Stewart given the "treatment" here by J&T, very enjoyable.
Last Night I Didn't Get To Sleep At All (Jackie)
Jackie sings The Stylistics and puts in a very classy performance, this is night club Jackie in her most sophisticated style.
Betcha By Golly Wow (Jackie & Tony)
Some great harmonies and solo parts here from both J&T, great to listen to late at night with the lights low and the wine flowing, a very smooth performance - sheer bliss!
So Deep Is The Night (Jackie)
Absolutely beautiful, this is a real oldie given new life by Jackie. A quiet ballad which builds to a wonderful climax. Will your memory haunt me tilI I die sings Jackie before swirling strings and chanting chorus fade this superb performance and so ends side 1 of the original vinyl album.
Gotta Get Away (Jackie & Tony)
This song was eventually used over the credits to The Persuaders starring Roger Moore & Tony Curtis and was a song I was often asked about by Continental fans as the show was repeated there some years ago, had it been released as a single then it may have done very well. Anyway back to the song, it travels along at a sprightly pace with some nice organ riffs.
Didn't We (Jackie)
A modern day classic covered by many but here given that special Trent stamp of approval lush strings complimenting Jackie's smooth vocals.
Love Is Life (Jackie & Tony)
Guitars open this bossa nova melody ,Jackie & Tony were very much into this type of music back then both vocally and instrumentally. A pleasant soft which drifts along nicely.
I Don't Know How To Love Him (Jackie)
For me, this will ALWAYS be the DEFINITIVE version of this song from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar, a gentle opening which builds and builds, it's absolutely beautiful and Jackie's warm rich voice comes right from her heart. This was also released as a single but it's worth the price of the album alone just to hear Jackie sing this. I can't praise this performance enough and I never did forgive Petula for recording this too!!!!
You're So Good For Me (Jackie & Tony)
An unmistakably Hatch sound opens this love song which has some great harmonies, it flows along at a nice pace.
The World Is A Circle (Jackie)
The album's closing song come from the movie Lost Horizon and the pen of Burt Bacharach. A cheery little song with a very catchy chorus - "Nobody Knows Where The Circle Ends", this songs has a real circus type feel to it.
