STARS from the world of showbusiness and sport
have teamed up to record a song in aid of injured
soldiers.
Darts ace Phil Taylor, Robbie Williams's dad Pete
Conway and England cricketer Danielle Wyatt visited
the recording studios to put the track together.
Heroes has been penned by Jackie Trent.
And all the money it raises will go to the 1st Battalion
Of The Mercian Regiment (Cheshire), who have just
returned from Afghanistan, to be spent helping injured troops.
The project the brainchild of Signal Radio presenter Paul Fairclough "I was really pleased Jackie agreed to write the song and, since then, I have tried to get everyone I possibly can on board. "It's great to have local people recording a song for local servicemen and women." The lyrics, right, were written around three weeks ago when Paul approached friend Jackie to put it together And she visited Orchard Studios, in Oakhanger, near Crewe, with other singers.
Jackie said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to be involved in the song. "I was very emotional while writing it, but we have such a wonderful studio that it has been a joy to work in." The tune will get its first airing during a special programme Signal Radio has planned for Remembrance Sunday.
It will then be uploaded on to iTunes for supporters to buy their own copies. Entertainer Pete Conway, who has known Jackie for a number of years, said: "Jackie has done very well with this."
And 15-time world champion Phil said: "The song is good fun and for a good cause so I thought I would help out on my day off. "I've done a couple of things in a recording studio before but I doubt I'll be swapping my day job for singing." Other stars who can be heard on the track include ex-Stoke City, Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra players.
